Park New Haven Makes Parking Easier in the Elm City
Park New Haven, which maintains and manages over 8,000 public parking spots across 7 garages and numerous surface facilities in Downtown New Haven, is pleased to announce that to kick-off spring in the Elm City, a new weekend parking deal will be coming to the Crown Street Garage, located in the heart of the city’s dining and entertainment district.
New weekend parking deal at the Crown St. Garage, On-Street Meters now accessible via ParkNewHaven.com, and changes coming to Union Station this summer
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — (May 1, 2015) — Park New Haven, which maintains and manages over 8,000 public parking spots across 7 garages and numerous surface facilities in Downtown New Haven, is pleased to announce that to kick-off spring in the Elm City, a new weekend parking deal will be coming to the Crown Street Garage, located in the heart of the city’s dining and entertainment district.
Starting May 1st, Saturdays and Sundays, Park New Haven will offer customers free parking for their second and third hours, after parking for 1 hour at the garage. This ‘buy 1, get 2’ hours free deal will run from 9 AM to 4 PM each weekend, excluding select blackout dates which may apply throughout the year.
“We’ve offered folks a series of great parking deals over the past year, including our Downtown Restaurants Parking Partnership program, and the Mayor has asked us to focus on the weekends in New Haven,” said David B. Panagore, Executive Director of Park New Haven. “We hope that folks from all over the state take advantage of the extra free hours, and really take time to explore everything that downtown New Haven has to offer- great museums, good shopping, and of course the award-winning food,” added Panagore.
Also, as part of Mayor Toni Harp’s initiative to make visiting the Elm City even easier, Park New Haven has partnered with the City’s Department of Transportation, Traffic & Parking to now provide information about the City’s on-street meters on the Authority’s website, ParkNewHaven.com.
The PNH homepage website (ParkNewHaven.com will now feature a map of meter locations throughout the City, information on Parkmobile (the City’s mobile parking payment system) as well as prominent links for payment on on-street parking citations, all to make using on-street parking more user-friendly.
In addition to launching their new weekend parking deal, and integrating on-street parking to the PNH website, Park New Haven is also announcing some changes coming to New Haven’s Union Station. Effective this month, Park New Haven security staff will now be enforcing traffic rules and regulations on parking and vehicles “standing” in front of Union Station and the Union Station Garage.
The goal is to help traffic flow better through and around the Union Station area, especially when it comes to the loading and unloading of travelers in the driveway loop in front of the station’s entrance. Additionally, Park New Haven will be evaluating and improving both traffic and way-finding signage and parking regulations at Union Station along Union Avenue this coming summer.
